Valencia defender Jeison Murillo has declared that he would like to see his six-month loan deal to be made permanent after the summer adding it’s a dream come true for the 26-year-old with Eric Abidal revealing there will be movement going out the club.
“I thank everyone who is here,” he told the assembled media. This is a very important opportunity for me, it is the biggest door that can be opened in football. It is a dream come true, this means a lot to me”.
“I have to work hard and get up to speed with the team and then the coach can make his decisions. The dream is to wear this jersey. I have half a season to show that I deserve it and I will work hard to stay here longer.
“I want to show the coach that he can be confident in me and show the rest of the players why I was selected to play here.”
“From the smallest to the biggest teams, I’ve always tried to do my best for any club I’ve played for and this will be the same,” he added.
“I’m very close with Yerry [Mina] too and we are good friends so he made some recommendations to me and advised me on some things.”
Barca sporting director Eric Abidal emphasised the signing was not a snub to La Masia but the club needed to compete now and there would be movement going outside the club.
“Our backing of the academy is the same and nothing changes,”
“We need to compete right now and the coach is in command here.I hope that players come through the academy as has been happening until now. We are always monitoring the market,” he said.
“In theory, there is nothing planned in terms of arrivals. As for exits, there are certainly some players who will want more. Everything will be put on the table and decisions will be taken.”
