Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz dies from coronavirus.
Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz has passed on Saturday after being hospitalized with coronavirus his son has confirmed.
Lorenzo Sanz Duran on Twitter announced the passing away of his father Lorenzo who was the Los Blancos president from 1995-2000, a period in which Real won the Champions League twice.
“My father has just died,” wrote Sanz’s son Lorenzo Sanz Duran on Twitter.
“He did not deserve this end in this manner. One of the best, most courageous and hard-working people I have seen in my life. His family and Real Madrid were his passion.”
The Spaniard had been hospitalized for a number of days after developing a fever, and the subsequent tested positive for COVID-19.
Sanz run for the presidency of Real Madrid in 1995 after a spell as a director under Ramon Mendoza‘s administration losing out to Florentino Perez twice in 2000 and four years later.
